Cloth diapers and the convenience factor

Environmental factors aside, I was wondering about the practicality of cloth diapers (i.e. how much of a pain they are) when I came across a post on a Des Moines Register blog that asked exactly what's on my mind - “What’s life like with cloth?” - and got some great answers.

Personally, I’m starting to think the cloth diaper thing is doable. I'd love to hear what you think! (Non-parents are welcome to chime in, too!)

  1. I LOVE using cloth diapers, BUT they are a bit more work. We aren't making last minute dashes to the grocery store for disposables, but I do have to plan to wash them before I run out.

I hate doing laundry of any kind, but I find it is worth it for the extra money I'm saving and the benefit to the environment. Oh and they are just so cute! :)

  2. So, on one hand, there's more work and planning ahead. On the other hand, cloth saves you money, is (probably) not as bad for the environment and is cute.

Maybe not a bad trade off.

  3. I loved using cloth diapers... back in the old days when they were more work! :-) Another benefit is that I think it is easier to potty train the little darlings. I will explain why off line if you want! :-)

What do you have to say about that?
