ReplyDeletegreat pics! Different critters than we see here in buffalo. =D
ReplyDeleteLovely shots! I like the last one especially; well camouflaged.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the animal in the third photo, the volunteer that gave us a tour of the Desert Botanical Garden (where all these shots were taken), called it a "ground squirrel." I thought ground squirrels were smaller than that, but I didn't think we had prairie dogs in Arizona. So I consulted Wikipedia. After looking up prairie dogs (which, I learned, can live in Sonora, Mexico - so they could be in Phoenix - we're part of the same desert), ground squirrels, and gophers, I'm still not sure! But it seems like "ground squirrel" can be used as a common name for any of those, so I guess we'll just call it that!
ReplyDeletethat is an interesting set :)
